Project Overview

My work is an investigation of the unspoken social contract we sign the moment we step into the city. In "non-places"—airports, subways, beaches, and cafes—we voluntarily surrender our privacy in exchange for the right to be part of the flow. My sketches capture moments when a person, while in plain sight, becomes profoundly sincere: sleeping with a suitcase, eating alone, or freezing in anticipation.

The Nature of Vulnerability

"Publicly Vulnerable" is a state without masks. On a beach in a swimsuit or in an airplane seat, we are physically and psychologically "exposed" to the gaze of a stranger, yet we remain anonymous. There is no sexuality in this—only basic human fragility.

The Role of the Observer

I am not merely recording reality; I am a participant in this vulnerability. When I open my sketchbook in a crowd, I am as open to observation as my subjects. My lines are an attempt to bridge the gap of misunderstanding between strangers. Drawing in public spaces is my way of acknowledging: "I see you, you see me, and in this mutual openness, we are not alone."
